At The Avenue, we pride ourselves in providing healthy home-cooked meals and snacks. We want our children to grow up healthy and strong. One of the most important things we can do is make sure our children eat a varied, balanced diet to meet their high energy and nutrient needs.
What they eat and drink during their early years can affect their health for many years to come, which is why it is so important for us as a nursery to provide the very best meals we can. All children are given the opportunity to try new things, eat well, develop their sense of taste and learn about food that will set foundations for their future health.
All our kitchens follow the children’s trust ‘Eat Better Start Better’ guidelines http://www.childrensfoodtrust.org.uk/childrens-food-trust/early-years/. Our chefs also adapt their menus for children who are weaning or have dietary requirements due to cultural or medical needs.
We provide breakfast, mid-morning snack, fully cooked lunch and high tea. Our menus are based on a 3 week rolling system and are changed seasonally.

Lunch: Beef lasagne and garlic bread
Pudding: Fromage frais and peaches
High Tea: Bagels
Tuesday
Lunch: Roast pork with roast potatoes and vegetables
Pudding: Rhubarb crumble with custard
High Tea: Cheese and tomato pastry swirl
Wednesday
Lunch: Chicken korma, brown rice and naan bread
Pudding: Fresh fruit salad
High Tea: Tuna sandwiches with cherry tomatoes and cucumber
Snowdrops Tea: Scrambled egg on toast
Thursday
Lunch: Herby tomato pasta
Pudding: Apple sponge
High Tea: Jacket potatoes with ham and cheese
Friday
Lunch: Fish mornay, sweet potato mash, peas and carrots
Pudding: Peaches and jelly
High Tea: Baked beans and wholemeal toast
