The nursery will be open from 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday all year except for public and bank holidays, and also for a week at Christmas.
Settling In
The nursery operates a settling in policy and aims to work with parents/carers to settle your child comfortably into the nursery environment. Pre-registration visits are encouraged and parents are welcome to stay with their child in the nursery until they feel happy to leave them in our care.
Dropping-off and Collection of Children
Children should be dropped off by parents/carers into the care of a nursery member of staff and entered into the attendance register. Children will not be released into the care of anyone other than those named on the record care unless authorised by the parents personally, by telephone or in writing. In addition, a personal introduction by the parents of anyone who is named on the record card and may be collecting the child is encouraged. A password system of authorisation is also in place in case of emergencies.

Children will be provided with drinks and snacks at regular intervals along with (where applicable) three freshly prepared, nutritious and balanced meals produced by our own in-house chef. Menus are be available for parents’ information.
Baby Milk
Formula milk must be provided by the parent.
Nappies
Shop brand nappies are provided, if your child requires branded nappies these need to be provided by the parents.
Clothing
We request that children’s clothing are labelled and that a spare set of clothes is kept at the nursery in case of accidents. Outdoor clothing e.g wellies should also be provided to suit the season.
Sickness
Any child who is unwell should not attend the nursery and we reserve the right to refuse to accept him/her until we are satisfied that they are not infectious. This is to protect other children in the nursery from cross-infection. Antibiotic medicines will only be administered by nursery staff after the child has been taking them for more than 48 hours at home and only with written authorisation from the parents/carers.
Discipline
The nursery has a written policy available to view on behaviour management. The use of any form of physical chastisement, verbal humiliation or aggressive handling of a child is not acceptable at The Avenue Day Nursery.
Car Parking
Parents are welcome to use the car park at the front of the nursery but we cannot accept responsibility for subsequent injury or loss to persons or property. Drivers are asked to be extra cautious whilst in the vicinity of the nursery.
Registering Your Child

Payment of Fees
Fees are due no later than the 1st of each month payable by standing order. Late payment of fees will constitute a breach of the childcare contract and may result in termination of your child’s place at the nursery. Full fees are payable when your child is absent through sickness or away on holiday.
Full-time children will be excluded from paying for bank holidays. Part time children will be charged but can swap their day to accommodate bank holidays where possible.
Discounts
10% sibling discount on the oldest child, until they receive funding.
Notice
One calendar month’s notice commencing from the 1st day of the month must be given in writing when terminating or altering days to a childcare place. We will accommodate parents’ needs where possible, but cannot guarantee that a full-time place can be reduced to a part-time one and vice-versa. The Avenue Day Nursery reserves the right to terminate a child’s place with immediate effect if a serious breach of these terms and conditions occurs, or if termination of a child’s place is considered by the nursery to be in the best interests of the nursery and/or the continuing welfare of the other children.
Childcare Records
In the interest of you child’s care and safety, all nursery records relating to your child must be completed and returned to the nursery prior to your child’s start date. Failure to do so would result in our being unable to accept your child into our care.

The nursery’s policies and procedures are available to review on request.
Other
Our fees are reviewed annually and any changes will take effect on the 1st of September. The Avenue Day Nursery reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions. If any changes occur we will endeavour to give ones month’s notice.
